Protests in Egypt: Ban on anti-government

Tear gas fired at Egyptian protesters
Eyewitness accounts
In pictures: ‘Day of revolt’
Egypt has banned street protests, one day after thousands of people joined a “day of revolt” against the government of President Hosni Mubarak.

Public gatherings, protests and marches are all now prohibited, the country’s official news agency reports.

Anyone joining in unauthorised action will be detained and prosecuted, the interior ministry said.

Three people died during the nationwide web-inspired protests, which were broken up with tear gas overnight.

Police also used water cannon as they forced protesters from Tahrir Square, a symbolic city centre location in the heart of Cairo.

Protesters had been inspired by the recent uprising in Tunisia, vowing to stay until the government fell.

How Old is Kanye West

How old is Kanye West ?

A well prepared response should always do the job.

This appears to be true for Taylor Swift’s response to the interruption of Kanye West during her acceptance speech of last year’s MTV awards. Her song, You’re still an Innocent, which she performed during this year’s event seems to entirely talk about the immaturity of West’s behavior. The song had many people thinking that it made a buzz in the internet right after the awards night.

West performed a song “I make her say” and mentioned he was born in 88 and that he was “old enough”. That is quite ironic because Swift’s song described him as “innocent”. And when he was thought to claim that he was “born in 88”, people started asking the question about his real age. Well, he exactly does not look like 21. Kanye West was born on June 8, 1977 and that should make him 33. However, it might be good to note that during awards night that he made the interruption, he was 32. Swift’s performance of the song included the line “32, and still growin’ up now”. It might be safe to think that Swift had already started to gather the lyrics to this song right after West interrupted her and waited until the next awards night to publicize it.

Or West could have meant Swift when he mentioned about being born in 88. In this case, he should be right by saying “born in 88.. old enough” because the response of Swift indeed is a mature thing to do. Although, the song having been written before the performance of Swift’s supposed “forgiveness”, it couldn’t  have really talked about Swift. Young and immature ladies would have been publicly wailing their embarrassment in front of the press people. But Swift had, the lady that she is, never snapped at the rapper but she didn’t. Instead, she composed herself with a song for a whole one year and waited for the right timing to have her response.

That idea gave her another boost of popularity today as people who watched the awards night marveled at the young lady who made a rhetoric response with melody. If West still think Beyonce deserved the award, he should be thinking twice now.

The Bittersweet Life of Bruce Pearl

“I’ve made a serious mistake, and for that I am truly sorry.” Tennessee coach Pearl Bruce admits that he committed a mistake when he provides some misleading and incorrect information to the NCAA by committing some possible recruitment violations. After 17 months of investigation Tennessee is making him pay for his conducts.

Coach Pearl has been the head coach of University of Tennessee since March 28, 2005 replacing coach Buzz Peterson. Pearl’s coaching career started at his alma mater, Boston College, as a student assistant coach to the legendary Dr. Tom Davis. He seated at the right hand of Davis for 14 long years, the 32-year-old Pearl finally embarked on his own head coaching career.

Bruce Pearl as an addition to UT’s basketball team was never expected, it was Tyler Smith who was designated by Peterson, but fortunately Smith decided to reject the offer. UT basketball has been down for his initial leadership, but with great anticipation Pearl made it to the top. Having lost their two leading scorers from a team that had been just 14–17 the previous season, Tennessee was picked to finish fifth in the six-team Eastern Division of the South-eastern Conference. Coach Pearl supervision has been the most successful years in Tennessee’s basketball history. He became the season’s head basketball coach during NCAA season 5.

In his four seasons at Tennessee he leads the Vols to to an average of 24.5 wins per year, three SEC Eastern Division titles, an overall SEC championship, the school’s first No. 1 national ranking, a school record 31 wins in 2007-08 and four straight trips to the NCAA Tournament–including back-to-back appearances in the Sweet 16. Bruce Pearls coaching career made him earned a national coach of the year from year 2006 and 2008. Because of his great contributions to the UT team, the Vols has been flourishing in terms of supports, may it be financial and moral. Bruce Pearl also honour the national recruiting services by signing one of the best recruiting classes.

Before coming to Tennessee, Pearl’s success had been described as magical. At Division II Southern Indiana, he led the Screaming Eagles to nine NCAA Tournaments, six Sweet 16s, a national championship in 1995 and a runner-up finish in 1994. He then moved to mid-major UW-Milwaukee, where he directed the Panthers to the Sweet 16 of the 2005 NCAA Tournament with wins over major conference powers Alabama and Boston College.

Bruce Pearl’s coaching career has been the most rewarding experience any coach can achieve. As of press time Athletic Director Mike Hamilton reduced Pearl’s pay by $1.5 million over five years and prohibited him from participating in off-campus recruiting for a year beginning Sept 24. With these latest happenings, what else can a successful coach could do.
